In the fast-paced world of rapid urbanisation, lies one of Alibaug’s oldest and best-kept secrets…SaffronStays Amolee is a centuries-old 4-bedroom heritage home with a gorgeous backyard and pool, located in the quaint town of Alibaug: Sagaon. Built in 1830, this Wada that’s easily over 200 years old, was painstakingly restored to its original glory. Standing tall on its original built of teakwood, brick and mortar, every corner of the this pet-friendly villa in Alibaug unfolds the historical events it holds within its walls; take a step into the estate and witness its enriching legacy unravel.
What makes this home special?
The Bene Israelis fled Israel and came to India more than 2200 years ago where they got shipwrecked in Nagaon, a small fishing village on Maharashtra’s Konkan coast. They sought help from the local Koli community and made Alibaug their new home. This led to a unique hybrid community, born out of interesting historical events and a seamless intermingling of cultures. A famous Jewish legend is believed to have taken place in the small village of Sagaon and thus was born a fascinating story around this little community.
Built in 1830, the home was acquired by the homeowners in 1982 and has been restored to its original charm.
Painted in rich history, every part of the home has its story to tell: in fact, the well located in the backyard was known to be the only water source in the vicinity at one point.
History buffs and vintage lovers will have the time of their lives exploring this heritage home near Mumbai.

Enter this unique pet-friendly heritage homestay through a traditional-style porch and make your way to the spacious reading room, 3 aesthetically charming bedrooms, the dining room and the backyard. 3 of the 4 bedrooms have an ensuite bathroom.
The staircase leads you to the lounge and master bedroom located on the first floor of the home accompanied by a massive balcony.
What can you do here:
Enjoy the day making a splash in the pool, wind down your evenings gorging on traditionally cooked Alibaug-Konkani style meals prepared on a traditional mud stove (chula), and relish on barbecue bites made fresh by our in-house chef.
Engage in a round of board games with your gang or head out in the backyard for a hand at badminton. For the bibliophile in you, the reading room is the perfect place for a peaceful read.
