Visión general
The history of coffee and tourism in LA PERLA began more than 25 years ago when Mrs. Virgelina started planting coffee in these mountains. Her love and passion for this craft were inherited by one of her sons, who had the vision of tourism from that moment on.
However, it wasn't until 2020 that this vision became a reality. While the entire world was going through a pandemic and we all had to lock ourselves in our homes, LA PERLA became a refuge in the midst of the storm. It was much better to be "locked up" in 12 hectares surrounded by nature than in the chaos of four walls in the city of Bogotá.
Thus, during a very difficult time for humanity, this beautiful project was born, and the vision of Virgelina's son to make this place a tourist destination centered around coffee became a reality.
LA PERLA holds a very strong spiritual meaning for its creators because it was an oasis in the midst of a desert for them. A place of peace and tranquility when the entire world was in total panic. For this reason, its cabins are named after the 12 stones mentioned in the Bible as the foundation of the New Jerusalem, a celestial city promised by God to His people where there will be no more pain or suffering. Thus, LA PERLA becomes a refuge of well-being, peace, and fulfillment for all who visit it.
Another curious fact about this place is the Ark shape of our restaurant PROA. The history of Gigante is based on a "legend" of two giants who fell deeply in love and whose bodies were immortalized in these mountains. On the other hand, the Bible tells us that when God commanded Noah to build an Ark, giants inhabited the Earth. So, legend or reality, in our restaurant PROA, we can find an Ark that signifies salvation and looks directly at the Cerro de Matambo, the giant who, according to legend, inhabited this land.
