He stumbled upon the place by chance, while touring Provence on his motorcycle and immediately fell in love with it: Alain Ducasse found himself under the spell of the Bastide de Moustiers, a building with great character surrounded by lavender and ancient olive trees, which exudes an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.
In 1994, the chef bought it from a master potter with a view to turning it into his own peaceful, almost secret refuge. Very quickly he decided to open it to travellers so as to welcome them as if to his own home, in order to share the unique charm of this typical Provençal building and his vision of hospitality, an essential value for the profession of chef that he cherishes.
