Midgard, a 16,000 - hectare Country Estate, is located 85km northeast of Windhoek and only 70km from Hosea
Kutako International Airport.
Steeped in Namibian history, Midgard was originally established in 1937 as the retreat and farming estate of
the List family, founders of the Namibian Group of Companies, Ohlthaver&List. Today their descendants welcome
you into this private world: a rare experience as you enjoy the life of early German pioneers on their farming and
wildlife estate.
Nestled in the stunning Otjihavera Mountains, Midgard has been the perfect place to escape to for many generations
who enjoyed the farm feeling, the vintage cars, the beautiful gardens, swimming pools and Loki’s playpark.
The name Midgard is popularly thought to mean “A paradise where the earth rises again, fertile and green, creating
a protected world and a safe empire for the people” and that is exactly what we offer – a paradise where you can
relax, unwind and recharge in a safe and protected environment.
At Midgard you can either choose relaxation or partake in mental and physical exercise in the form of outdoor
chess, tennis, bowling, swimming, game drives, bush walking and horse riding. Midgard offers 90 fully equipped
rooms, The Barn restaurant or Bali Boma, two swimming pools, a gym and spa and Namibia’s one and only
private skittle alley (Sven’s Kegelbahn). The lodge is spaciously situated in a sprawling country garden, bordering
the banks of the Swakop River.
