The destination is home to the only sandalwood forest in Kerala and is also famous for its exotic flora and fauna. The Nilgiri tahr (mountain goat), the grizzled giant squirrel and the once-in-twelve-year blooming wonder - Neelakurinji flower (Strobilantheskunthiana) are special to Munnar.
