Overview
Tenuta La Bandita is set amid 150 acres of woods, olive groves, orchards, and meadows within a beautifully undisturbed area south of Livorno near the sea. It is a few kms from the historic and picturesque villages of Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri and the beaches of Marina di Castagneto and San Vincenzo (Costa degli Etruschi / Etruscan Riviera) which front the collection of islands of the Tuscan Archipelago. Dino and Daniela, with their former business and hotel experience, bought the estate 30 years ago and brought it gradually back to its past splendor. The 18th-century main Villa is where most of the guest bedrooms are situated. Their idea was to transform the villa into a charming country hotel while leaving as much as possible of the original structure and atmosphere of the private residence intact. This was made easier by the fact that the home came with ten furnished bedrooms with bathrooms, situated down one long corridor upstairs. The rooms are appointed with original period furniture, chandeliers, and matching golden brocade drapes and bedspreads. Guests can lounge on the front terrace with wide countryside views or in the gracious arched living and dining room downstairs with gray-stone fireplace and framed portraits. Fifteen additional rooms are divided within two adjacent houses, Gli Ulivi and La Foresteria, between the villa and swimming pool. Directions: Exit from S.S.1 at Donoratico and head for Sassetta/Castagneto for 11 km on a winding mountain road. Take the turnoff left for Larderello/Monteverdi (not Sassetta) for 1,5 km to the La Bandita property. Pass through the gate and go past the first group of private homes to the villa at the end of the road.
