Steeped in history, De Trafford Arms is a high quality public house situated in Alderley Edge on the A34. Inside this welcoming pub you will find open fires, candlelit tables and secluded dining areas for a more private evening. Starting in the car park, there is a cobblestone area which is listed. The building is over 200 years old and the first recording of the De Trafford is 1802 when the occupiers being the Trafford family were noted as being nothing more than scant farmsteads at this time with toll house adjacent to the most prominent homestead of Chorley old Hall. Although the popularity of the De Trafford Arms increased it wasn't until 1863 that the existence of Alderley Edge was officially recognised. By the early 1870's the Inn had gone from strength to strength with even an archery club existing here. Visitors would come from Manchester to enjoy a picnic and the scenery. On the 19th February 1910 when Alderley Edge was in its prime a visiting football team called Manchester United moved into the Old Trafford area of Manchester. Sir Cecil Trafford purchased Wickleswick Hall, an 800 acre estate, in the mid 17th Century. The estate became known as Trafford Park, the Trafford Centre now lies on the land. Next to the pub we offer a Good Night Inns hotel. Make sure you try our traditional Sunday roasts with a huge a Yorkshire pudding and unlimited gravy. The food at De Trafford is rooted in traditional British cuisine and the chefs showcase a modern flair with the dishes they produce. The team at the De Trafford are passionate about our food menu, so you can relax and enjoy our quality dishes and great service at this fantastic venue.
